Research has shown that wearing a properly fitted bicycle helmet reduces the risk of head, brain, and severe brain injury by up to 88%. In efforts to promote bicycle safety, St. Petersburg Fire Rescue will be hosting a Drive-Through Bicycle Safety Expo event in partnership with Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, and the Suncoast Safe Kids Coalition. Attendees will receive bicycle safety information and FREE bicycle helmets for children while supplies last. Prior to the event, participants are encouraged to watch this video to guide them on how to properly fit a helmet. At the event, a certified bike helmet fitter will then issue a helmet for each child present (while supplies last) and walk them through how to properly fit the helmet on the child's head.
